Do you have a favorite photo from last week’s Turning 2 Tutu and Bow Tie Tea Party Part I reveal?

Today, I am sharing Part II with mostly images from my girls tea party outside using décor items from the birthday girls updated bedroom such as the Audrey coral pink and gold teepee, play table and chairs, and tea set.

Turning 2 Tutu and Bow Tie Tea Party

Turning 2 Tutu and Bow Tie Tea Party || Sarah Sofia ProductionsI love how all the details came together, especially these stunning and girly sequin tulle shimmer dresses from OC Kids Closet with the colorful pop of color from the faux jeweled necklaces from Target.  Due to the unseasonable cold day the girls had to wear their favorite pink coats from Gymboree.

I love the detail shot of the girly tea party essentials: A coral, prink and green tea set, gold and pink tablecloth fit for a princess, and a gold glam cake stand with jewels!

I even sneaked in a shot with my princesses, who were troopers with the unseasonable cold weather!

The décor was glam and girly with tulle tutu and bow tie invitations to set the theme of the party.

Turning 2 Tutu and Bow Tie Tea Party || Sarah Sofia Productions

Tulle was used for the table décor with gold polka dots for some glam to match the pink and gold polka dot backdrop. I love the fabric and tulle wreath and garland, which adds depth with the multi pinks and golds and makes this such a girly table!

Bite size finger foods such as PB&J crowns and shoes, cucumber flowers, tutu cupcakes, gold sparkle donut holes, flower tea cookies, and strawberry cake were perfect for this tea party themed birthday party..

While most of the décor was girly and glam, we included Charlotte’s friends that were boys by incorporating the bow tie theme. All the guests enjoyed the delicious food, bounce house and teepee!

Party Details

Being an event planner and stylist I am always thinking about all the fun details that go into any event or party. It wouldn’t be tutu party without the perfect tutu! My girl’s always get a special dress or outfit that goes along with the theme of their party and these beautiful pink and gold sequins tutu dresses from OC Kids Closest were perfect. The girls helped me pick out their pink sequins “princess shoes” as they call them, from Cynthia Rowley and their “princess” jeweled necklaces and crowns to complete the tutu tea party outfit!

This Audrey Coral Pink and Gold teepee custom-made for Charlotte by Abigails Hands not only serves as the perfect birthday gift and décor item to update her bedroom but a fun detail and play area for the kids at the party.

Guests enjoyed tea party food made with love by Sarah Sofia Productions! The strawberry cake with fresh flowers made by Sarah Sofia Production was a fan favorite! I love the pink and gold cake topper by Kiss Me Kate Studio, which even through in confetti to decorate around the cake!

Guests were given party favors that included princess wands that light up for the girls and fun sticky hand toy for the boys.

Make sure you come back later this week for Part II with additional photos from Airana Clare from our special tea party outside!

Valentine’s Day Party Sneak Peek

I’ve been working on a few fun DIY things this January, and two of them happen to collide for my Valentine’s Day Party Sneak Peek!

Vantine's Day Party || Sarah Sofia Productions

Here’s a sneak peek at the three drawer campaign piece I painted in Sherwin Williams Youthful Coral and finished in high gloss lacquer.  I have styled it with some of my favorite party pieces for an upcoming Wine Tasting Girls Night Out Valentine’s Day party!

Valentine's Day Party || Sarah Sofia Productions

A lot of DIY is going into this party prep from items I’ve used in past events. DIY spray painted gold vintage stand I found at HomeGoods to display the sea urchin form Hobby Lobby. Easy DIY glittered Champaign bottle and added a little more sparkle to the gold tray with gold ribbon. Not to mention make shift photo booth with spray painted picture frame I used for this Coral, Robin’s Egg Blue & Elephant themed 1st Birthday Party.

Don’t have tons of party décor lying around your house to decorate for Valentine’s Day? Don’t fret, decorating can be as easy as adding some fun floral arrangements, garland, and signs.

Valentine's Day Decorating || Sarah Sofia Productions

I love using heart garland around the house, especially in the front entryway, in our family room, and in the bedrooms. It’s an inexpensive yet festive way to get in the Valentine’s Day spirit!

Valentine's Day Party Ideas || Sarah Sofia Productions

The garland in the front entryway is from Target’s collection last year and the one pictured above is from Crate & Barrel. You could easily make these yourself with felt or colored cardboard paper.

Did you catch our Valentine’s Day Inspiration Round Up post last week of fun and creative ideas from years past?

Wordless Wednesday: Wedding Inspiration + Trends

Mango Sorbet. Photograohy by Imely Photography and Video LLC

Imely Photography and Video LLC

Did you know that December is the most popular month to get engaged? Next to December is February with Valentine’s Day. In the spirit of engagement season and wedding season on the horizon, I’m sharing some of our favorite weddings with you that are still trending in 2015.

Sara + Gabe NYE Wedding Sarah Sofia Productions

Dessert bars, exposed brick and industrial spaces with a lounge vibe were gaining popularity in 2010 and are still trending in 2015. Sara + Abe got married on NYE in 2010, which remains a popular wedding date. Get the details of their wedding here.

Christina and Sam Winter Wedding || Sarah Sofia Productions

Winter weddings were trending in 2011 and are still hot in 2015! As are small, intimate weddings. I was honored to plan and style one of my best friends weddings at their favorite French restaurant! Christina wanted an elegant but simple décor with blue and white. Blue and white is classic and will always be in style. Get the details of Christina and Sam’s Winter Wedding here.

Imely Photography & Video LLC

Imely Photography & Video LLC

Sophisticated and memorable food and experience at weddings started trending in 2008 and hasn’t stop since!  While some might argue you never remember the food at weddings, that wasn’t the case at our wedding and most of the weddings and events I plan and style. Our intimate wedding of 80 guests at The Ritz Carlton Sarasota Beach Club is still talked about amongst our friends as being one of the most memorable; who could forget that lobster bisque!

Sarasota Coral and Cornflower Blue Wedding || Sarah Sofia Productions

Other trends such as the signature drink, coordination of color and theme throughout the wedding, and destination weddings in 2009 are still hot in 2015. Not to mention my favorite colors coral and blue are hot trends this year not only in fashion and interior design, but are seeing variations of the colors in weddings and events. I know a few people thought the color coral was bold and was fitting for a beach wedding, but wouldn’t reach mainstream.

Backstage Pass to High Point Furniture Market Fall 2014

I’ve had the pleasure of attending several High Point Markets as the design assistant to the talented Lory Cobb Interiors based out of Charlotte. I learn so much from Lory Cobb Interiors every time we venture to Market.

Lory Cobb Interios

Here’s a photo of one of my favorite installations by Lory Cobb Interiors!

High Point Market (HPMKT) is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, brining together 75,000 people biennially to High Point, NC. This year the market trends are “bright, bold and brassy” according HPMKT Style Spotters.

You learn quickly as a Market goer to wear the right shoes! Fashion is important but comfort takes the driver seat as you navigate the 11.5 million square feet of showrooms.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll recognize this faux bamboo desk in white and gold from Bungalow 5.

Faux Bamboo Desk

Their 2015 line did not disappoint and was by far a stand out at High Point!

Bungalow 5

My next favorite is Thibaut! Always a must see at Market with their fun colors and setting trends with patterns and fabrics.

Thibaut

I always enjoy finding new exhibitors such as Lowcounry Originals. Lighting is setting trends and becoming more of statement piece. Loved everything in Jamie Young Co.

Lighting

Shades of blue and red are hot right now! Of course my personal style is blue, white, and coral and found some great pieces at Trade Winds Furniture of Charlotte, Guild Master, Gabby and one of my favorites of HPMKT Ro-Sham-Beaux.

High Point Market

Hope this inspires you as much as it has me!

Queen City Gala: Black Tie For Charity Event

The Queen City GalaThe Queen City Gala, a first annual black tie fundraiser benefiting Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, Lydia’s Legacy and Samaritan’s Feet was the premier event of the fall in Uptown Charlotte!

The Queen City Gala

The gala was held at the Levine Museum of the New South and featured a shrimp and grits station, Moscow Mule signature drink, and the talented band U-Phonik that got the crowd dancing!

Queen City Gala

The night was full of heart felt sentiment as the hosts explained why the three charities were so personal to them.  Followed by representatives of each charity, who spoke with such passion and moved everyone in the audience.

Queen City Gala

The color scheme was vibrate and represented the colors of the three charities.  We used melon linens for the cocktail tables and teal blue for the seating tables.  Pop of orange, coral, green, pink, and purple provided a great contrast to the table linens.

Queen City Gala

Queen City Gala

Since several of the hosts were involved in their charities in memory of a loved ones, I was especially honored and touched to be a part of this event.

Queen City Gala

Additionally, it was our relationship through the Junior League of Charlotte, which has a rich history of service, that brought us together. All four hosts, the founder of Lydia’s Legacy, Carin Ross Johnson, and myself are all members of the Junior League of Charlotte.

Queen City Gala

Besides the shrimp and grits and the Moscow Mule, the other fun element was the black tie formal attire requested dress code.  Watching people walk in and dance in formal dresses added a festive atmosphere to the night!

Everyone that attended the event went away knowing a little more about these three well established charities in Charlotte and not wanting the night to end after getting down on the dance floor.

Brunch with the Girls: Summer Entertaining

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

I’ve always enjoyed being a hostess and brining people together, even before I decided to become a wedding and event planner!

Brunch is one of my favorite types of events because there is so much you can do, plus who doesn’t love a little sweet with their savory and some bubbly!

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

This past weekend was no exception, as a group of professional small business owners from interior design, to events, to PR gathered at my home for brunch.  It’s an eclectic group of women, some of us friends from before, some of us fast friends from One Room Challenge, and some of us friends via social media finally meeting for the first time to discuss our businesses, blogging and everything we find fun and fabulous!

Left to Right: Beth (Dwell by DeVore), Airene (Dress My Room Interiors, Kim (Legere Creativ), Malloy (Charming in Charlotte), Summer (Simple Stylings), Sarah (Sarah Sofia Productions) and Lory (Lory Cobb Interiors).

Left to Right: Beth (Design POST Interiors), Ariene (Dress My Room Interiors, Kim (Legere Creativ), Malloy (Charming in Charlotte), Summer (Simple Stylings), Sarah (Sarah Sofia Productions) and Lory (Lory Cobb Interiors).

I’ve been dying to use more of my Oh Joy Spring Collection and brunch with girls was the perfect opportunity!

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

You know you’re in the right company when your guests notice the Oh Joy Collection and all the details of your event! Only DIY enthusiasts, interior designers, and bloggers alike would get excited and request a home tour with details on the DIY stencil in my daughter Charlotte’s room, listen to me talk about updating my daughter Sofia’s room again, and know the details of my One Room Challenge Master Bedroom!

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

When styling any event I always mix lows and highs. Don’t wait until you finally host Thanksgiving or Christmas to bring out your good china, place settings, or silverware!  I love how my new Pottery Barn Rope Outdoor Dinnerware looks matched with my Homegoods costal dishes!

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

The napkins and multi-colored glassware are from Oh Joy Spring Collection along with the paper mini lanterns.  For the mimosa bar I had to bring out my Waterford champagne glasses, which adds a touch of fancy to any occasion!

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

After styling everything for brunch outside, I had to move everything inside due to the rain.  However, that didn’t stop us from having a good time.  We immediately started remincing about One Room Challenge and what room we are going to do for the next one! YES, we are THOSE girls!

As we ate my signature egg casserole dish, enjoyed biscuits and mini croissants with peach jam, fruit salad with mint, and sipped on peach or mango passion fruit mimosas, we had to talk about our latest design and DIY projects and of course the fun at Haven Conference that some of missed (including myself).

Brunch Sarah Sofia Productions

If you don’t know these women picture above you should. They are all talented in their own right!

Beth Barden, Design Post Interiors, is a Charlotte interior designer who I got to know through One Room Challenge! She makes it look easy juggling three kids and a full time business.  You will be impressed with her style and work, especially her recent work on the Home Depot Outdoor Games Style Challenge!

Ariene Bethea, Dress My Room Interiors, is a Charlotte interior designer, who has her own Etsy shop, and sells vintage home décor furnishings and accessories on One Kings Lane and Hunters Alley and  recently opened a booth at Slate Interiors. If that wasn’t enough Ariene launched her own handcrafted paperweight line and was thrilled to receive one of her pieces as a hostess gift!

Kim Loring, Legere Creativ, is another Charlotte interior designer who also has a booth at Slate Interiors and participate in One Room Challenge.  It was a pleasure meeting her for the first time and learning about her trade!

Mallory Fitzsimmons, Charming in Charlotte, is just as charming and stylish in person as she is on her life and style blog! Mallory shares her interior design, fashion and DIY inspiration on her blog with all her latest projects! We became fast friends through One Room Challenge and this girl did two rooms! If you missed  my post on my favorites from One Room Challenge, which includes Mallory, check it out here.

Summer Hogan, Simple Stylings, is one of those people you meet and you instantly connect and know you will be fast friends! Summer is an interior designer at hear like me and is always working on the next space in her home or design challenge.  Summer hosted some of us local Charlotte One Room Challenge participates on her finished deck, see details from my previous post here, and this group was formed! She is currently participating in Home Depot Outdoor Games Style Challenge and has some great design ideas!

Lory Cobb, Lory Cobb Interiors, is one of the first friends I made when moving back to Charlotte and has become a close friend.  Like me, she has two kids, and owns her own business, an interior design firm, here in Charlotte.  She is so creative and has been a great sounding board for me to bounce design ideas off of.  Not to mention Lory is usually my partner in crime going to furniture stores, flea markets, and High Point Market! One of my favorite design projects she did was of her daughter Hensley’s room with beautiful gold and blush stencil and trim work all around the room.

We missed Sarah (Matters of Style), Cheryl (Dwell by Cheryl) Bethany (Dwellings by DeVore), Jennifer (Pure and Simple Organizationing) and Converse (Converse Falcon Design).

Easter Celebrations

I love this time of year because everything is in bloom and my favorite colors are everywhere, coral, blue, pink, and green! I also like when Easter is later in the calendar, which gives me more time to really enjoy the holiday and be festive for more than a few weeks.

I always reuse decorations from years past, rearrange them and add a few more décor items.  Here’s a photo from one of my previous tablescapes.

If you missed my previous posts on tablescape, decorating eggs without dye, and other festive Easter ideas you can check them out here: http://wp.me/p1s2CI-ca   http://wp.me/p1s2CI-2b

This year I decided to decorate my front entryway, family room, and kitchen.  As you can see I like using tulips and hyacinth because they come in various colors and look great arranged together.   I love walking into my home and smelling hyacinth! This particular arrangement gives the tablescape sophistication and height by using both flowers in one vase.

Other additions to this years tablescape  include these darling bunny rabbits that I found at antique market in Belmont, NC , Target’s sparkle Easter eggs, and this twine Easter egg wreath.
