Easter Celebrations Part II

Easter Celebrations

Earlier this week I shared my Easter décor for my home.  If you missed it check it out here: http://wp.me/p1s2CI-ot Today I’m sharing my Easter dinner tablescape with you.

I have used these pink and blue plastic (reusable) plates for so many events and dinner parties over the years and brought them out again for Easter.  They were one of my best buys from Party City! The pastel colored robin’s egg in mason jars with burlap was a discount find at Hobby Lobby.  However, you can easily make your own if you bought the supplies separately.  This year instead of sparkle and jeweled eggs I made eggs with stickers and pom poms on them with my daughters.  I had one place at each place setting for guests to take home.

Again, I used tulips and hyacinth, with limes, as well as ranunculus with lemons at the bottom as centerpieces.  These types of flowers just look so bright and are perfect for your Easter or spring dinner!

I also decorated the dessert table and drink table with floral arrangements and Easter décor.  I have to say the best part of the meal, to me that is, is dessert! The carrot cake designed by Edible Art of Charlotte was heavenly!

Elephants Coral & Robin’s Egg Blue First Birthday Party

Pop I'm One!

Welcome to Charlotte’s Playhouse! Where we celebrated her first birthday in style with lots of love, treats, and fun!

Just like my daughter Sofia’s first birthday party, the inspiration for Charlotte’s came from her nursery.  The theme centered on the colors of her nursery, robin’s egg blue quatrefoil stenciled walls, and the wall art of a robin’s egg blue elephant with coral quatrefoil in the background.   (See previous post on nursery details http://wp.me/p1s2CI-ke).

I wanted the theme to be clear from start to finish and had custom invitations made by Carousel Printables with all the above elements. The shades of corals and blues gave a cheery and feminine look.

The party was held at our home. Since it was a 70 degree day in February we were able to make good use of the outdoors as well as displays inside.

Guests were greeted by Charlotte’s birth announcement in a robin’s egg blue vintage looking picture frame, pink floral arrangement by Sarah Sofia Productions, and a custom made coral and robin’s egg blue fabric banner by The Pickled Peanut.

Next stop in “Charlotte’s Playhouse” was the dessert bar. I had always wanted to use my daughter Sofia’s dresser for an event, which was the perfect fit for the dessert bar!  I found two different sized cake stands in robin’s egg blue to display the cake and the centerpiece, coral and pink floral arrangement with Peanut M&M’s by Sarah Sofia Productions.

I designed the coral monogram letters, which are on display in Charlotte’s nursery.  The coral and robin’s egg blue felt elephants by Make Stich Knit were gifts for Charlotte and added a whimsical feel to the party!

I found these adorable blue and coral tin pails, which served as party favors filled with elephant shortbread cookies by Edible Art of Charlotte.

The cake was designed by Edible Art of Charlotte and as always tasted better than the beautiful artistic work! We went with chocolate and almond flavored pound cake.

I had custom paper rosettes/fans made by Makelle Designs, which added a bit of whimsical and depth to the décor of the dessert bar.

I used a farmer’s market basket to display coral and robin’s egg blue macaroons from Dean  & Deluca, which added the perfect impact of color.

A pizza and drink bar greeted guests in the kitchen were we severed pizza from our favorite establishment, Jets Pizza.  The signature drink was pink lemonade displayed in a large blue mason jar drink dispenser and served in blue mason jars with coral polka dot straws.

Activities were set up as part of “Charlotte’s Play House” where kids could play in a “Play Hut” that had a tunnel and ball pit area,  and in a kitchen.   I made a banner to display photos of Charlotte from 0-12 months using printables from Subway Party.

Kids and adults alike enjoyed exploring the rest of “Charlotte’s Playhouse” outside! There was a special kids table, custom made photo booth with props by Sarah Sofia Productions, tunnel, outdoor playhouse, and Lookout Treehouse by Step 2.

Of course if you know me, a birthday girl always has to look her best!  I was able to design a pillow case dress by CookieBella Creations with coral quatrefoil, robin’s egg blue polka dots, and an elephant appliqué on the bottom.

It’s all in the details as you can see from the below photos!

Sofia’s 1st Birthday Bash: Cherry Blossom & Birds

After all the fun I had planning it’s hard to believe a year has come and gone!  The inspiration for my daughter Sofia’s 1st birthday party came from this cherry blossom and bird painting that she loves and is the theme of her nursery.  The blues, pinks, and greens are feminine and the birds are so whimsical.  I incorporated the color scheme throughout the party using pink polka dots and baby birds, which was the perfect touch for a girl’s 1st birthday bash!

Details, details, details! I started collecting bird cages, birds and anything pink, blue, and green.  I designed two wooden bird houses, a ribbon wreath, the invitation and fabric letters in the color scheme. (See previous posts for DIY fabric letters).   Sofia’s blue/green dresser drawer was the perfect touch for the gift table and to display the party favors. Pink paper lanterns and green/pink butterflies added a pop of color and continued the whimsical feel throughout the space.

A birthday bash isn’t complete until the birthday girl has a party dress, right?  I found a fabulous dress designed by Lil Bit of Whimsy Couture that is aqua and pink polka dot.  I requested the baby bird appliqué and Monica’s dress design was the perfect fit for our little birthday girl!

The party was held in one of my childhood friend’s backyard in Columbus, Ohio.  The Ellis family went all out with providing a tent and a beautifully landscaped yard.  While the rain held off, it was a hot and humid day and the pink lemonade served in mason jars was a favorite by kids and adults.  Comfort Witcher of Comfort Photography did an amazing job capturing Sofia’s milestone birthday, putting everyone at ease, even my sweet Sofia who was in a lot of pain from teething.

The dessert table was the main focus with the cherry blossom and bird painting and flower arrangement with blue twigs as the centerpiece.  Your eye then immediately drew to the stunning cake by Edible Art of Charlotte, which has both the cherry blossom and baby bird design.  Keeping it simple I used farmer’s market baskets to display pastel colored M&M’s and chocolate colored almonds.  Pink and green macaroons from Pistachio Vera are always a delicious treat and the perfect impact of color.  Adding some whimsical delight and keeping with the bird theme I made M&M’s bird nest cookies.

Tweet Tweet Enjoys These Treats!  Edible Art of Charlotte did an amazing job weaving the theme into the baby bird cookies that were given as party favors.  The adorable printables were designed by Sweet Scarlet Designs.

Happy Hour Baby Shower: Elephants & Chevron

Happy Hour Baby Shower is a fun, casual way to shower any mama-to-be with lots of love! Katie and Tim, parents-to-be, have been waiting for baby P for a long time and I was overjoyed to plan, design, and be a part of the celebration!

When Katie and Tim decided to wait until the big day to reveal the gender of baby P, I went to work on brainstorming for gender neutral baby shower themes.  Since Katie loves the chevron pattern and had planned baby P’s registry around elephants and blue I was able to use these elements as my theme.

Katie wanted an intimate dinner with her girlfriends and loves Mexican food, and thus the Happy Hour Baby Shower became a central theme with margaritas and a taco bar.  (See previous Cinco de Mayo post for Taco Bar and Beer ‘Garita recipes).  Orange and turquoise are cheery and gender neural colors that made the event pop!   Several of the decor items also served as gifts for the mama-to-be, which will be used for baby P’s nursery.

In addition to margaritas, we served Corona and bubbly, one of Katie’s favorite drinks before she was pregnant.  We also had a chips and salsa station with peach salsa, delicious homemade guacamole, and homemade taco dip.

It was only fitting that we had a beautiful evening for a beautiful mother-to-be and were able to enjoy the outdoor setting of Katie and Tim’s new home.  The turquoise chevron runner from Fantasy Vintage Bridal provided the perfect touch against the rest of the table setting, which was accented by the turquoise chevron baby bib and burp cloth by The Fresh Stitch for baby P!

We had a small station set up outside for guests to write a wish or message on a book-plate and place it inside one of their favorite children’s books as a gift for Baby P!  I had no idea how creative some of Katie’s college friends could be in story telling!

The dessert table was so whimsical with the chevron orange fabric from the Fabric Shoppe, adorable turquoise and orange baby elephant shortbread cookies by Edible Art of Charlotte that served as the party favors, turquoise and orange sprinkled cake pops by Nicole Farrell, and turquoise and orange candy.

We are all so overjoyed for Katie and Tim!  Seeing Katie with her adorable baby bump just gives me a huge smile and makes me so thrilled for their new family!
